Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc. (TSE, OSE: 6756) selected Xilinx’s (NASDAQ: XLNX) 65nm Virtex(TM)-5 LX FPGA for their KP Series of industrial cameras. Hitachi Kokusai Electric is among a growing number of industrial networking manufacturers to realize the density and power advantages of Xilinx high-performance Virtex-5 FPGAs to achieve ultimate design flexibility and faster time-to-market.

Hitachi Kokusai Electric’s latest high resolution, fast frame rate KP Series (range of seven types, 14 models) offers superior image quality, efficiency, and speed. It is suitable for a broad range of industrial needs because of its compact size and ease of operation/installation. The KP Series design also leverages Xilinx’ 32-bit MicroBlaze(TM) soft processor to enable its high-performance image processing function. The MicroBlaze processor plays a key role in achieving the KP Series high resolution (5 million pixels), as well as its small size and image correction features such as the color camera’s white balance and independent six-color masking.
