Xilinx Doubles CPLD Revenues

Posted by Ken Cheung in FPGA on Tuesday, May 8, 2007

Xilinx today announced double digit growth in CPLD revenues. The growth was driven by strong growth in portable consumer applications such as PDAs, cell phones, and MP3 players. Xilinx CoolRunner-II CPLDs grew 30% quarter-to-quarter. Xilinx annual CPLD sales have grown more than 85% over the past five calendar years, compared with overall market growth of just 17% (CY06 versus CY02). CPLD now represents 10% of the overall company revenue

Xilinx CoolRunner-II CPLDs offer the lowest power consumption, highest I/O count per macrocell, and smallest packaging in the industry and are cost optimized to address the pricing pressure of products designed for a broad spectrum of applications. Available in densities ranging from 32 to 512 macrocells, the CoolRunner-II family achieves performance of up to 323 MHz and pin-to-pin delays as fast as 3.0ns while providing a standby power of less than 33 microwatts (<33uW), an industry first.
