Avnet Electronics Marketing and Xilinx are co-hosting X-fest 2012, which is a series of free, day-long seminars in North America, Europe, Asia and Japan. X-fest 2012 features twelve technical courses based on Xilinx’s new Artix-7, Kintex-7 and Virtex-7 FPGAs, and Zynq-7000 Extensible Processing Platform (EPP) family. The global event will also include hands-on demonstrations from Analog Devices, Cypress, Freescale Semiconductor, Maxim, Micron Technology, TE Connectivity, and Texas Instruments (TI). X-fest 2012 will take place in 22 cities around the world.
Avnet Electronics Marketing introduced the Xilinx Kintex-7 FPGA DSP Development Kit with High-Speed Analog. The new kit supports Xilinx’s 7 series Targeted Design Platforms. The Avnet includes the Xilinx Kintex-7 KC705 base board with Kintex-7 FPGA, 4DSP FMC 150 High-Speed ADC/DAC FMC, 12V power supply, Xilinx ISE Design Suite: System Edition, and Targeted Reference Designs (RTL and MathWorks model-based design tool flows). The Xilinx Kintex-7 FPGA DSP Development Kit is available for $3,995.
Analog Devices unveiled the AD9739A D/A converter and AD9467 A/D converter FMC boards. The two data converter FPGA mezzanine cards can connect to Xilinx’s new 28nm 7 series field programmable gate array evaluation kits. The Analog Devices FMC boards support multiple generations of Xilinx kits (including the new Kintex-7 FPGA evaluation kits). The ADI FMC boards include all of the HDL (hardware description language) code and device drivers needed for designers to engage in rapid prototyping and reduce development time and risk.
Xilinx introduced three targeted design platforms: Virtex-7 FPGA VC707 Evaluation Kit, the Kintex-7 FPGA KC705 Evaluation Kit, and the Kintex-7 FPGA DSP Kit. The comprehensive development kits are designed for accelerating systems development and integration with Xilinx’s 28nm 7 series Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). The new targeted design platforms include boards, ISE Design Suite tools, IP cores, reference designs and FPGA Mezzanine Card (FMC) support. The three new kits are the first among nearly 40 to be delivered by Xilinx and ecosystem members.
Xilinx introduced reference designs and a development baseboard for speeding the development of next-generation, 3D and 4K2K display technologies. The 4K2K Mosaic and HDTV-to-4K2K up-converter targeted reference designs are based on the new 28nm Kintex-7 Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). The new ACDC (Acquisition, Contribution, Distribution and Consumption) 1.0 Baseboard also uses Kintex-7 FPGA devices. The targeted reference designs and ACDC 1.0 Baseboard with the Kintex-7 FPGA will be available in Q2 2012.
Xilinx rolled out version 13.2 of their ISE Design Suite. The latest version features 28nm 7 series support, 25% performance improvement for designs targeting Virtex-7 2000T FPGA devices, PlanAhead design and analysis tool enhancements, partial reconfiguration support for Virtex-7 and Kintex-7 FPGAs, and front-to-back, integrated project management environment. ISE Design Suite 13 is available now. Prices start at $2,995 for the Logic Edition.
Xilinx will be presenting and demonstating at the 2011 Embedded Systems Conference Silicon Valley. During ESC, Xilinx will showcase their Zynq-7000 Extensible Processing Platform (EPP) and Kintex-7 Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) family. Embedded systems developers can learn about learn about product deployments in Xilinx’s technical conference sessions, free workshops and booth demonstrations.
Xilinx launched the Kintex-7 K325T Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). The Kintex-7 K325T FPGA is the first of 28 devices that make up the 7 series FPGA that includes the Artix-7 and Virtex-7 FPGA families. Xilinx FPGA devices are sampling now. The Kintex-7 K325T is ideal for flat panel displays, ultrasound equipment and many other applications and includes high-bandwidth, low jitter serial transceivers to address price sensitive wired communication applications.
Synopsys Synplify Pro, Synplify Premier and Synphony now offers synthesis support for the Xilinx ISE Design Suite (IDS) v13, which provides support for their 28-nanometer (nm) 7 series FPGAs. The Synopsys synthesis tools feature a hierarchical project manager that enables team-design collaboration with a mixed bottom-up/top-down approach that is integrated with Xilinx’s SmartGuide incremental place and route (P&R) technology. The updated FPGA synthesis tools are available now.
The Precision Synthesis tool, from Mentor Graphics, now supports Xilinx 28nm 7 series field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). Engineers from Xilinx and Mentor Graphics worked together to smooth the transition to the new 7 series FPGA devices. Xilinx 7 series FPGAs are built on a low-power and unified FPGA architecture that scales across low-cost and ultra high-end families.
