Xilinx recently introduced the Serial RapidIO Gen 2 v1.2 Endpoint LogiCORE, CPRI v4.1 LogiCORE, and JESD204B v.1.1 LogiCORE IP cores. The Xilinx three LogiCORE IP cores support connectivity standards and will help developers address design challenges in building new wireless equipment with higher system capacities. The Serial RapidIO Gen 2 v1.2 Endpoint LogiCORE IP, JESD204 v1.1 LogiCORE IP , and CPRI v4.1 LogiCORE IP are ideal for building programmable, flexible and cost effective 3G+/4G wireless base stations. They are available in Xilinx’s ISE Design Suite 13.3 and can be evaluated free of charge.
Xilinx introduced the Spartan-6 FPGA Broadcast Connectivity Kit and Broadcast Processing Engine IP core. The development platform is ideal for engineers working on 3D TV broadcast and other high definition video applications. The Xilinx Spartan-6 FPGA Broadcast Connectivity Kit and Broadcast Processing Engine IP core enable broadcast system designers to build full systems for high-speed transmission and real-time processing of video in a full range of professional broadcast applications (such as cameras, switchers, routers, encoders, monitors and cinema projectors).
During a recent PCI-SIG Compliance Workshop, Xilinx’s Spartan-6 FPGA Connectivity Targeted Reference Design passed the PCI-SIG compliance and interoperability testing for PCIe 1.1 single-lane configuration with on-chip GTP serial transceivers running at 2.5 Gbps. The Virtex-6 FPGA Connectivity Targeted Reference Design passed PCI-SIG compliance and interoperability testing for PCIe 2.0 x4-lane Gen2 configuration with the GTX Serial transceivers running at 5 Gbps. The Spartan-6 FPGA and Virtex-6 FPGA Connectivity Targeted Design Platforms are designed to provide out-of-the-box working PCIe connectivity solutions to enable designers to quickly connect and focus on the rest of the system.
The new Xilinx Virtex-6 and Spartan-6 FPGA Connectivity Development Kits is a comprehensive, easy-to-use, and hardware validated development environment. A key component of the new kits is the Connectivity Targeted Reference Designs that contain Northwest Logic’s high-performance, scatter-gather DMA Engine IP. The Spartan-6 FPGA Connectivity kit is available for order now including a full version the Northwest Logic DMA Back-End Core for $2,495. The Virtex-6 FPGA Connectivity kit will be available in January and includes an evaluation version of the Northwest Logic DMA Back-End Core for $2,995.
