Synopsys, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNPS) announced that the FPGA synthesis solutions from its Synplicity® Business Group, Synplify Pro® and Synplify Premier, support Altera Corporation's 40-nanometer (nm) Stratix® IV Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). Synopsys' Synplicity synthesis solutions deliver value to customers through efficient mapping technology, tuned specifically to capitalize on the performance features of Stratix IV devices, and timing- driven synthesis technology that produces area optimizations resulting in lower-power consumption in Stratix IV-based designs. Software support for Stratix IV devices is available now.

Altera's Stratix IV FPGAs leverage 40nm technology and the company's transceiver and memory interface technology to provide excellent system bandwidth with a high level of signal integrity. Stratix IV FPGAs, when coupled with HardCopy IV ASICs, deliver the benefits of FPGAs with a seamless transition to ASIC implementation.
