Audio Sample Converter Rate Converter

Altera (Nasdaq: ALTR) and PLDA SAS introduced a new line of intellectual property (IP) cores and the audio sample converter (SRC) for the professional audio/video broadcast market. The audio sample converter is now available free of IP license fees to qualified customers of Altera's Stratix(R) and Cyclone(R) FPGA device families.

The SRC core is highly configurable, handles up to eight pairs of stereo signals, and converts and synchronizes most combinations of sample rates between 32 kHz and 96 kHz. An upgrade to support input and output sample rates of 192 kHz is scheduled for release in October 2007. Users can also choose between AES-EBU or I2S interfaces. The SRC features professional-grade performance with a THD+N of greater than 120 dB across its operating range.
