Lattice Do-it-All PLD Design Challenge

The Lattice Do-it-All PLD Design Challenge is now taking place. The grand prize winner will receive $3000. The design contest will take place in three phases: Conceptual Design, Design, and Voting. Judges will select up to 15 semifinalists in phase one and then up to five finalists in phase two. Community Members will then vote for a grand prize winner. Each semifinalist will receive a free Pico Development Kit, a $49 value. The deadline to enter is July 18th.

In phase one, design contestants will develop a conceptual design, including a title and abstract of no more than 5,000 characters (approximately 750 words), and upload a word document. The Conceptual Design Phase is open to new Contestants from June 13, 2011 until frozen on July 18, 2011 at 8 a.m. EDT. If all required elements are not submitted before the frozen time, contestant’s status will revert back to a Community Member. Up to Fifteen contestants from this Phase will be chosen as Semi Finalists by the Contest Judges and will be announced on or about August 1, 2011. All remaining contestants are still eligible to be Community Members and can vote for winners and are eligible for prizes. Each Semi Finalist will receive a PICO MachXO2 Development Board ($49 value).

In phase two, each contestant will be required to complete a Product Brief document (up to 6,500 characters or approximately 1000 words) and block diagram, all which must be uploaded before the entries are frozen on September 9, 2011 at 8 a.m. EDT. If all required elements are not submitted before the frozen time, contestant status will revert back to a Community Member. Up to Five Finalist Contestants from this Phase will be chosen by the Judges as Finalists, and announced on or about September 19, 2011. Each Finalist will receive a $100 prize.

In phase three, Community Members will vote for the Best Design, (one vote per Community Member). The Design with the most votes at the conclusion of the Voting Phase (September 30, 2011), will be announced as the Grand Prize winner, and awarded $3,000. Community Members who vote on at least one design will be entered in a drawing, where ten Community Members will be chosen at random and awarded one $100 prize each. The Contestant Grand Prize winner and Community Members of the random drawing will be announced on October 4, 2011.
