Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE:CY) and the Avnet are offering a free 30-minute video. The video, The PSoC the Mixed Signal FPGA Companion Chip, shows designers how to use a Cypress PSoC® Programmable System-on-Chip in cost-effective companion chip applications with a Xilinx FPGA. The webcast presents a brief overview of the flexibility and integration of the mixed-signal PSoC device, followed by a detailed review of its FPGA configuration, USB and touch sensing capabilities. The video showcases the Xilinx Spartan-3A FPGA Evaluation Kit from Avnet, which pairs a Xilinx low-cost Spartan-3A 400A FPGA with a PSoC device.

PSoC offers flexibility for high-volume applications and enables FPGA configuration and Flash memory re-programming through a built-in USB interface. The board comes with Cypress's CY3217 (MiniProg) Programmer as part of the Xilinx Spartan-3A FPGA Evaluation Kit, available exclusively from Avnet for $39. For designers interested in a more advanced USB and touch sensing evaluation environment, Cypress offers the CY3214-PSoCEvalUSB Kit, which includes enhanced development and debugging support.
