Xilinx Ethernet AVB Endpoint LogiCORE IP Core

Harman International Industries and Xilinx, Inc. (Nasdaq: XLNX) developed the first Ethernet Audio Video Bridging (AVB) Endpoint for development of broadcast, professional and consumer audio/video, automotive, and home networking systems. The Xilinx Ethernet AVB LogiCORE intellectual property (IP) core supports the new IEEE 802.1 Ethernet AVB standard. The Xilinx Ethernet AVB Endpoint LogiCORE IP block is available now for Virtex-5 LX, LXT, SXT, FXT and Spartan-3A DSP FPGA (field programmable gate array) platforms, providing developers with 26 device options.

The Endpoint LogiCORE is priced at $25,000 USD and delivered with the latest release of the Xilinx CORE Generator software provided with the ISE Foundation and ISE WebPACK design tools. It includes all the netlist, source code, constraint files, software drivers, and reference designs needed to implement a complete Ethernet AVB endpoint subsystem.

The IEEE 802.1 Ethernet AVB protocol is a low-cost enhancement to the 802.3 Ethernet standard designed to provide a reliable, high quality of service (QoS) and low latency connectivity solution for streaming media (audio and video). The Xilinx Ethernet AVB Endpoint is a parameterizable core that operates at 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps and seamlessly connects to the Xilinx Tri-Mode Ethernet MAC (TEMAC), providing a highly flexible, scalable implementation to address the bandwidth and QoS limitations of standard Ethernet and wireless solutions. It is ideally suited for a broad range of applications, such as professional cameras, industrial surveillance systems, professional mixers, projectors, automotive head units, and networking interface cards.
