ARM Processor Options for Altera Stratix FPGA and HardCopy ASIC

Posted by Ken Cheung in IP Core on Wednesday, August 20, 2008

Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: ARW) announced a new design services and IP access model to integrate ARM industry-standard processors, in the Altera® Stratix® FPGA series and HardCopy® ASIC series devices, through Arrow's Custom Logic Solutions group. In this design services model, Arrow will develop a customer-specified ARM technology-based subsystem and integrate it into the customers' design. The resulting design will be instantiated in a HardCopy device, or encrypted and delivered for customer use on encryption-capable Stratix devices.

The agreement with Arrow enables system-on-a-chip developers to speed their time to market by prototyping ARM processor-based designs in an FPGA before production of an FPGA, ASIC or foundry vehicle, based on real-time business needs. Using the advanced encryption capability of Altera's Stratix devices, Arrow's Custom Logic Solutions group provides a foundation for linking IP protection and verification schemes in the FPGA.

IP access and design services that incorporate ARM industry-standard processors into Altera Stratix and Hardcopy devices are available immediately to North American customers through Arrow's Custom Logic Solutions group.
